Avani was founded in 2014 by individuals who strive to be difference-makers utilizing technology as a solution to combat the global epidemic of plastic pollution. We offer a full range of F&B packaging and hospitality products made from other renewable resources such as sugarcane, cornstarch, and paper.
Our products hold certifications from reputable organizations, namely Din Certco and TUV. In addition, we provide biodegradable and compostable cassava bags with Indonesian National Standard, enabling the hospitality, garment, and retail industries to replace single-use plastic bags. Our innovative solutions have enabled us to expand to Dubai, Mexico, Singapore, Turkey, and South Africa -- making “From Bali to The World” our newest tagline. As well as to become the go-to packaging alternatives that are good for the planet and business.

We believe sustainability goes beyond Avani products, and everyone is accountable for saving the environment. Our mission is to educate and activate stakeholders in order to convert them into becoming solution providers in an effort to preserve our planet. Parallel to that, we take the Triple Bottom Line approach to sustainability, balancing people, the planet, and profit, and exercise good corporate governance. Although yet to be perfect, we try to incorporate environmentalism value into all aspects of our business operations, from product design to delivery.
We set measurable goals and targets, which we regularly review and update, and we are committed to reducing our environmental impact through responsible practices. Our headquarters are a visual testament to our efforts, as we repurposed shipping containers and have temporary structures made from materials like reused plywood palettes, glass, and teak wood. We respect and embrace Bali’s authentic elements and traditions by having natural stone, penjor, pelinggih, merajan, and ceremonies.
We work with local suppliers and vendors whenever possible for our daily operations in Bali and prioritize local employment opportunities. Currently, Avani staff are all Indonesians, with a balanced percentage of Balinese and non-Balinese.
We are committed to creating a workplace culture that values diversity and offers equal opportunity for recognition, rewards, career switch, and promotion for all staff. Besides job training, we guide them on sustainable culture, waste management, and energy and water conservation. We also believe in having fun while making a difference. We organize annual team-building events, clean-ups at least once in three months, and other activities to engage and motivate our staff. For the sake of staff mental and physical well-being, we have sports facilities available to use such as a ping-pong table and basketball rings, plus occasionally have group exercise.
We are committed to reducing our waste generation at Avani. We aim to minimize unused items by repurposing them into new products or fruitful goods instead of throwing them out. We also encourage customers to buy in bulk or minimum order quantities to reduce packaging waste.
Moreover, we repurpose leftover fabrics from nearby garment factories as cleaning cloths and mats. To effectively manage our waste, we work with a trusted waste management company and conduct quarterly clean-ups to maintain cleanliness and raise awareness.
At Avani, we implement energy and water-efficient practices as part of our commitment to sustainability. We use LED lights, regularly maintain leaky faucets and pipes, and utilize biopore. Additionally, we schedule our work hours efficiently and avoid overtime to optimize energy and water usage effectively.
We strongly believe in supporting and collaborating with local communities as much as possible. Be it to clean, protect and educate on the environment. Or by providing goods donations, publications, promotions, products, or cash. We are available for partnerships and always looking for partners and organizers that promote sustainability with a like-minded vision to leave impactful footprints for future generations. And we welcome our #AvaniFriends, including our customers, social media followers, and you, to join us.
We focus on clear communication and materials to help people make informed choices when choosing our eco-friendly products. We value feedback through Google reviews and a form linked on our social media. While our retail area at our headquarters is open to the public and accessible to people with disabilities, our office, production, and warehouse areas remain closed to visitors for safety and sanitary purposes.
