SUSTAINABILE BUILDING & DESIGN
Initially built in the 1960s, Balquisse Heritage has been adapted, renovated, and transformed with continuous values of Indonesian culture and sustainability within architecture, interior design, and service. Existing spaces were entirely renovated with recycled materials and optimized for natural light and air circulation, thus limiting the use of electrical lighting and air-conditioning. In addition, roof structures were entirely redesigned to recuperate rainwater for reuse.
Aside from its original build, all new architectural structures added to the property came from existing systems intended to be entirely transportable. May it be that the property must revert to an entire coconut plantation; it could. Such initiative is seen within The Shaba, built with an old Javanese school structure of windows and doors or the Javanese wooden Gladak rooms installed on beams from the living Mangrove. The property favors its lush coconut plantation and beautiful Mangrove to continue to thrive while we remain simple passages to its beautiful life story.
