PADMALA ATELIER

Creativity, Culture, and Idealism

Padmala Atelier was founded to merge craft, culture, and nature through architecturally inspired jewelry designs that celebrate self-expression. Their pieces draw on cultural heritage, reimagined for contemporary identities and future aspirations. Designed by Ariana, an Argentine architect, artist, and thinker, and handcrafted in Bali by Joko and Darmo, each piece is ethically and responsibly made to order.

Padmala Atelier

SUSTAINABLE DESIGN

Padmala Atelier is committed to creating high-quality, unique pieces that blend ethics with beauty and reflect personal style and ideology. They embrace slow fashion, which advocates for intentional, mindful production and challenges the excesses of fast fashion, including overproduction and complex supply chains.

Padmala Atelier's jewelry is designed for longevity, using noble metals like silver and brass in their raw form. The silver is sourced from Java, Indonesia, with future plans to use recycled or ethically sourced silver. They avoid gold plating due to its short lifespan and chemical process, offering plating only upon custom request.

Committed to circularity, they aim for zero waste by making pieces one at a time and minimizing excess production. Off-cuts are either remelted into new designs or sent to recycling facilities in Bali.

EQUAL & LOCAL EMPLOYMENT

Padmala Atelier collaborates closely with local artisans developing their own workshops, creating mutually beneficial processes and combining traditional craftsmanship with academic knowledge for business growth. They emphasize shared learning and network with emerging designers to enhance their jewelry business. Maintaining strong client relationships and operating in a respectful, safe environment, they value the artisans' customs and processes while building their atelier.

SUSTAINABLE PACKAGING

Padmala Atelier sought out sustainable packaging solutions in Bali, resulting in a reusable, recyclable, or compostable box made from organically sourced bamboo. Created by a respected, Indonesian, woman-owned business, each handmade box features unique textures due to bamboo’s natural fibers and is finished with a water-based, chemical-free coating. The interior cushion is hand-sewn with silk velvet, and they are transitioning to using natural blue indigo dye.

GROWTH & GOALS

Padmala Atelier values business transparency and integrates their ethics with their creative and commercial efforts. Committed to earth-friendly and socially-conscious practices, they focus on making the most of their resources as a small, evolving business. They strive to remain close to their craft, continuously improve, and are open to learning and suggestions.
