When you shop at Alive Wholefoods, you are supporting our beautiful, delicate environment by choosing to avoid mass produced and unsustainable farming practices. You are also supporting your own physical health and well-being while helping the local economy grow.
"Sustainability and ethical production are woven into everything we do at Alive on a daily basis. From sourcing to production, to supplier relationships and the kind of customer we attract and their shopping experience, our staff and their own personal ethics - it’s the basis of everything we do at Alive Wholefoods."

We know everyone deserves to have access to affordable fresh, healthy and organic produce, and we know how important it is to make sustainable and ethical choices when it comes to shopping for their home. But we also know that everyone’s circumstances are different and the overwhelming price tag that can come with doing both of these things can make it just out of reach for some.
That’s why we are committed to offering you a product range that not only supports local, ethical suppliers, artisans, farmers and their families, but we try to keep the prices as fair as possible.
We work with local artisans and trades, using local materials in the design and implementation of our stores, kitchen and warehouses.
We have a commitment (and find pure joy) in supporting local suppliers and artisans who share the same values as us. At Alive you’ll find over 1000 locally sourced products (with the exception of a few high quality imported products).
The products and brands we have carefully selected to bring you, don’t make the cut just by being amazing alone. There are also brands who are doing amazing things whether it be sustainable or regenerative farming (in the case of our wonderful farmers), or a company that gives back to their local community (like Terra Water does in giving a filter to a Bali Street Mum for every one sold in our store).
We are a Bali Based business and pride ourselves on providing a happy and equal environment for our staff to grow and flourish. Whether it be a long term career for them or a stepping stone to other goals. We don’t discriminate against sex, gender, background or age and believe everyone deserves equal opportunity.
Reduce, reuse and recycle. We have a strict commitment to recycling both in store and in our kitchens and warehouse. We put a focus on keeping our staff up to date with regular training in waste management.
We encourage zero waste shopping through our bulk section. Take only what you need. We provide paper bags if needed but encourage the reuse of glass packaging - bring your own or purchase them for use when you shop. We encourage recycling through our "cashback" program - get 2k in store credit for every glass bottle or jar returned cleaned with lids on us.
We provide Eco Bali Recycling bins at both our store locations for our customers to use and encourage them to do so. We also use all of our food wastage or we compost it through Urban Compost and give it back to our farmers to use. We know we aren’t perfect but we try where we can.
Keep an eye out for our 50% off produce bins! We hate seeing good produce go to waste. We understand you might not want to pay full price for produce that is a few days old, that’s why we drop it down to 50%. These fruits and veggies are usually perfect for making juices, broth and soups at home!
Composting! The full circle. Any produce that does go off before sale along with all unusable or non donatable food from our kitchens get composted with Urban Compost and then given back to our farmers to use in regenerating their soil and land. We encourage our customers to do the same!
We re-purpose the packaging & boxes that we receive from our suppliers by upcycling it into packaging for our online delivery orders. It might not look super chic but it’s effective.
No single use plastic is used for any of our house-made items. We use glass packaging where possible, wrap our fresh produce in banana leaf and use compostable packaging (like the AVANI products).
Both our Canggu and Umalas locations feature a free Terra Water refill station that is open to anyone at all times. This encourages the community to buy less plastic water bottles by drinking filtered water.
We encourage the purchase of the Terra Water Filtering systems by selling them in store, promoting the use of the filters and by giving back - for every ceramic filter sold through Alive, Terra Water donates another filter to a Bali Street Mum in need. They also provide training on filtering water so that this knowledge can be passed down and along through their communities and families.
SOS - We have a partnership with SOS Indonesia to donate food on a daily basis. We donate leftover goods from our kitchen ad provide a place for customers to purchase and donate in store. Find our fridges in store for food donations, or donate to SOS directly via our website. We love a good cause - especially if it’s a local one and regularly work with charities and businesses who approach us for donations or sponsorship.
