Beyond Waterbom Bali's world-class slides, built and maintained to strict international safety standards, lies a carefully landscaped sanctuary of gardens and water systems proudly representing the beauty of Bali. The park spans 3.8 hectares and was built in 1993 to provide guests with a fun and memorable experience while respecting and minimising the impact on the existing landscape. Recently voted as #1 Waterpark in Asia in the TripAdvisor Traveler’s Choice Awards 2022, Waterbom Bali is more than just a waterpark and provides the ultimate day out in Bali.
Since the park opened in 1993, Waterbom Bali has been focused on respecting the environment and following the local Balinese philosophy of Tri Hita Karana (the three causes of harmony) in our company operations and team culture.
In the last six years, Waterbom Bali has been committed to transforming our business and operations by implementing ambitious sustainability initiatives and goals. Our sustainability program, Karmic Returns, started in 2017 with the establishment of the Green Team and the appointment of an Eco Champion.

Waterbom has worked since its inception to try and minimize its impact on the environment by following sustainable business practices, and over the last 6 years has implemented a comprehensive Sustainability plan across water, waste and energy management to protect Bali’s natural resources.
Water resource monitoring on-site across different park areas and applications.
9 recharge wells within park, with zero-runoff principle for stormwater, promoting complete rainwater recharge to aquifers.
Recycling grey water via sewage treatment plant (STP) for watering the gardens.
Installed 95% low flow rate taps and water saving appliances.
Created a documentary, “Balancing the Waters”, highlighting the water issues that Bali faces and to inspire and drive a change in the tourism industry towards sustainable water resource management.
Installation of Solar PV Panels to reduce grid electricity consumption.
All lighting converted to LED to reduce energy use and mercury pollution.
Restricting air-conditioning use times in offices and set temperature ranges to reduce energy usage.
Power infrastructure upgrades to minimise system inefficiencies and heat losses that waste energy.
Park-wide waste separation for recycling and composting to reduce waste to landfill to 5%.
Developed own composting facility onsite.
Reduced single use plastic within the park.
All paperwork moved to digital instead of print.
Partner with waste management contractors for all non-organic materials.
Waterbom aims to educate youth and empower leaders in sustainability through our in-house program, ‘Seed of Thought’, a series of free workshops throughout the year with the intention of inspiring, empowering, and supplying local communities, educational institutions, and universities with knowledge on how to take action and contribute to the resolution of Bali's environmental crisis.
Waterbom established a dedicated and passionate ‘Green Team’ in the company in 2018, who monitor, record and report the energy, water and waste consumption at the park and work with an external Sustainability consultant to assess and update the Sustainability practices regularly. This team is run by our Eco Champion Coordinator who leads by example and implements programs and training for staff in sustainability practices and environmental awareness.
