ARTE
Pizza Place and Art Space
ARTE is a relaxed beach-side space to enjoy the flavours of a wood fired oven and homemade Italian cuisine. Surrounded by the artwork of local artists and books from our collaborative library project, we aim to inspire artistic minds and creative thinking with a warm relaxed atmosphere and authentic Italian home-cooking.

COMMUNITY & CULTURAL RESPONSIBILITY
Built around the idea of community and cultural accessibility, we gather the work of local artists and musicians, organizing workshops that bring like-minded individuals together. Our nonprofit collaborative library system is open to all, and one of the largest on the island. We organize fundraising events for local charities, including the great success of our last two Christmas events where we served free food to customers in exchange for donations to charity, this last year raising more than we could have hoped for. In addition to this, we are sponsors of Sungai Watch's upcoming community waste bin initiative and are in the process of organizing a free book club aimed at bringing together readers from all over the island.
EQUAL OPPORTUNITIES & FAIR LABOR PRACTICES
We are incredibly proud of the team we've built, and will always support equal opportunities for locals and implement fair labour practices, including insurance, health-care and maternity leave. We are one of the few restaurants with an almost entirely female team, including our highly skilled kitchen team. We offer high-level training to all employees, including barista training, and comprehensive kitchen training. Many members of our team have been in our employment for almost 10 years, receiving support and continuous employment during the pandemic, and ultimately opening ARTE restaurant together. We are committed to always providing a supportive work environment, and help emotionally and financially support every member of our team through major chapters of their lives.
SUSTAINABLE BUILDING METHOD, MATERIALS, AND PACKAGING
As a small family-run business, we try to keep our decisions sustainable and simple, including the building methods, materials and packaging we purchase and use. We did not want to contribute to Bali's growing construction problem, so we took an existing structure, made great efforts to up-cycle the furniture, fix the white goods and recycle any waste. We planted more flora and fauna in and around the restaurant and have employed a natural mosquito-repelling method. All our takeaway packaging is paper or bagasse (home-compostable, organic and entirely plastic free), we use reusable containers for food storage, biodegradable (zero plastic) rubbish bags, and locally sourced glass and wood for planting our food. It is a continued focus of ours to educate our team on the repercussions of single-use plastic, and the many alternatives that are available to us in Bali.
