THINGS TO KNOW IN BALI
Currency: Rupiah (Rp)
Language: Bahasa Indonesia & Balinese
Time zone: Indonesia Central Time (GTM/UTC plus eight hours)
When to go :
High Season: July, August & December (Accommodation rates increase by 50% or more)
Low Season: January to April and October to November (Rainy season, good airfares, good deals everywhere)
Best Season: May, June, September (Best weather, not too crowded, best time for all activities)
Visas: A free visa on arrival is available for a maximum of 30 days trip.
If you are planning to stay longer than 30 days, you will need to buy a 60 days Tourist Visa On Arrival or a Social Budaya Visa. Be aware that you will need to renew these two visas along the way while in Bali (You can do this either through a visa agent or attending the immigration office).
Money: Most places in Bali accept credit/debit cards. You will also find plenty of ATMs and places to exchange money around the island.
Mobile phones: Most places in Bali will give you free Wi-Fi access. You can also buy a cheap local SIM card everywhere for local phone calls and 3G access.
Insurance: A complete travel-insurance to cover theft, loss and medical problems is essential.
Safety: Bali is considered as a safe travel destination. However, we recommend to always mind your belongings, especially when on a motorbike.
Hospitals: We recommend two of the most professional and clean hospitals in the island:
Siloam Hospital: located on the by-pass near Seminyak
BIMC Hospital: located in Kuta, Nusa Dua and Ubud
